"It's just one of those things, isn't it?" 2024
I have been exploring ways to tell the stories women have told me about their experiences of puberty and menopause, old wives’ tales they have been told, their experiences of endometriosis and the dismissal of their pain by doctors, and many of these women have given me red yarn.
The threads and stories have been woven together to explore how our bodies act as an archive - holding our memories, experiences, cycles, roles, and stories to create a visual story and physical representation of our lives as women.
“It’s just one of those things, isn’t it?" records the average number of menstrual cycles a person that menstruates has in their lifetime, laying it out in front of us and allowing it to be seen.
